But how do we know? That's a fair question. Religions differ, and everyone claims to be right.

Christianity is unique because it doesn't depend on what we do to reach God, but on what God did to reach us. Every other religion says: "Do this, obey these rules, and maybe you'll reach God." But Christianity says: "God himself came down to you in Jesus, and offered you life as a free gift" Ephesians 2:8-9.

Historical evidence supports this - the life of Jesus, his death, and his resurrection are documented by Muslim, Jewish, Roman, and pagan historians, not just Christians.

But here's the important question: Why does the Quran give Jesus titles it hasn't given to any other prophet?

• Muhammad is a prophet, Moses is a prophet, Abraham is a prophet - but Jesus alone is "the Word of God"
• What does it mean for a person to be "the Word of God"? Is the Word separate from God or is it from His very self?

The Quran itself calls Muslims to refer to the Gospel:

• Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:46 says the Gospel is guidance and light
• Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:68 tells the People of the Book to uphold the Torah and the Gospel

The real question: Have you read what the Gospel itself says about Jesus? Not what people say about him, but what he said about himself and what his disciples testified to him?

The Quran affirms the validity of the Gospel:

• Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:46 says the Gospel contains "guidance and light"
• Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:68 says to the People of the Book: "Uphold the Torah and the Gospel" - how could it ask them to do this if it were corrupted?
• Surah Yunus 10:94 says to Muhammad: "Ask those who read the Scripture before you" - why would he be sent to them if their book were corrupted?

The logical question: When did the alleged corruption occur?

Before Muhammad? Impossible - because the Quran affirms the Gospel in Muhammad's time.

After Muhammad? Impossible as well - because we have complete manuscripts of the Gospel from before Islam that match what we have today:

• The Dead Sea Scrolls (before Christ)
• The Codex Sinaiticus from the fourth century CE - hundreds of years before Islam

The historical evidence is clear: The text is preserved.

The real question is not "Is the Gospel corrupted?" but "Have you read it yourself?"

1. Jesus claimed equality with God:

2. Jesus did what only God can do:

• He controlled nature - He calmed the storm Mark 4:39
• He rose from the dead by his own power John 10:17-18

3. Others worshipped him and called him God:

• Thomas said to him: "My Lord and my God" John 20:28 - and Jesus did not reject it but accepted it
• The angels were commanded to worship him Hebrews 1:6

4. Even the Quran gives him unique titles:

• The Word of God Quran 4:171 - If he is the Word of God, is the Word separate from the Speaker?
